I am trying to figure out where to live in Jersey. I might be working for Rutgers in New Brunswick and I am thinking about Linden or Elizabeth or nearby areas. I have a car but I still want to know how the public transportation is and if it's affordable to rent. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Both areas have some good and some bad. I guess it depends what you're looking for. Are you Hispanic, if so then Elizabeth has a huge Hispanic community and a Jewish one too.

In terms of safety and crime, then Linden is safer but there are more shopping areas there then Elizabeth downtown which is like a ghost town at night I guess due to crime.

Default re

thank you, I lived in the hood downtown Allentown PA most of my life so if I survived as an Eastern European descent there I guess I will survive anywhere lol. I am just trying to figure out about the public transportation and the affordability in Elizabeth and Linden or surrounding areas.

Linden is similar to what you’re looking for then. A large and well established working class Polish community as well as some ghetto elements to the area.
