Jackson is in Central Jersey. Pull out a map and look it up. Either way, to long a commute.

it's all a matter of what perspective you have, it is south of I 195 so it could be the northern part of south jersey

195 is exit 98 on the parkway. Since the parkway runs from exit 0 to 173/174 the middle of the state would be exit 87ish. Therefore, exit 98 is either north jersey when only considering north/south or central when considering north/central and south.

There are buses that commute to Manhattan, my hubby has done it on several occasions, and they run pretty true to schedule. I would say your best bet would be to drive to Howell (there is a park and ride on Aldrich Road just east of route 9) - which depending on where you are in Jackson is a 5-15 minute drive. You could take as late as a 7:10 bus and still get to the port authority (42nd street & 8th Avenue) before 9 (although I would suggest leaving a little earlier).

Here is the link for the schedule on NJ Transit http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0139.pdf
