Default Jackson, NJ to NYC

How long of a commute would it be to drive from Jackson, NJ to NYC (Lincoln Tunnel)?

If I had to be there at:

6am?

7am?

8am?

6am- an hour or so
7am-an hour and a half
8 am-2 hours

That is a beastly drive though--any way you slice it.

I would like to see you get to the Lincoln tunnel in 1 hour.Unless you are breaking speed limits, its at least an hour and 20 minutes without traffic which is highly unlikely at any time in the morning. It also depends on which part of jackson you are in.If you leave at 6am,dont count on getting there till at least 720am-730am.If you leave at 7am,you probably wont arrive till till around 840.If you leave at 8am, you will probably arrive around 940.These are realistic times. If there is one accident,it will be much longer and there usually is one.

Thats any AWFUL commute.

Its at least 90 minutes without traffic. Most mornings itll take about 40 minutes just to get through the tunnel from about half a mile before it.

It is 66 miles on mapquest, and an hour and 20 on mapquest, which does take into account time for traffic, etc.... I was basing the estimate on no traffic, which there wouldn't be at 5am. And I said an hour or so--not 60 minutes flat. You'd think by the tone in your post that I had suggested it was a fantastic idea.

A lot depends on where in Jackson the OP would be departing from.

That commute would be 2 to 2.5 hours of insufferable hell. These posters are all correct. You could not concoct a worse commute, at least not in NJ.

The bigger problem in my opinion would be the reverse commute, from NYC to Jackson. It's going to be totally unpredictable at the tunnels.

Welcome is on a distinguished road
Jackson's a big place, over 100 square miles. So the commute time to NY depends on where in Jackson you begin the trip, as well as departure time, and whether you go by car or bus. In general, you should expect the trip to take at least 90 minutes. Could be a lot more than that if you happen to get stuck outside the tunnels to NYC, or in beach traffic on the way home on a Friday night. Unless you can travel off hours or sleep in a carpool, you're better off taking a commuter bus because it can make better time using dedicated bus lanes. But this is not a desirable commute.

You should leave 5:30-45. When I went from Moorestown to Madison, NJ everyday I left around 6am and it took me an hour and 15 minutes. But driving to NYC is worse.
