I'd say South Brunswick. Nice and quiet area, blue ribbon schools, close to major highways, close to stores.

East Brunswick is off of 18 South and well, rush hour traffic there can give you a migraine. Very commercial on 18 South.

Don't know about Union.

Good luck!
Kay

Thanks Kay! Route 18 worries me a lot, but I have been reading about East Brunswick, and I've heard nothing but good things. I haven't heard much about South Brunswick or Union, so it's good to hear that South Brunswick is a nice town as well!

You're welcome. Not sure if you are already in NJ but Route 1 (close to South Brunswick) can also be a nightmare. I commute so early in the AM (7am) that there is no traffic issue on Rt. 1 except the occasion accident and well, when it snows, people drive slower, of course.

Some areas of East Brunswick are nice but if you can, I'd encourage you to drive around, make sure you are ok since some parts look like they were developed in the 80's meaning roads and homes look and feel old fashioned. However, I don't know all of East Brunswick so it's not fair to take my comments to heart. Just see if you can visit it because we may see things differently.

Kay

Sounds like I will definetely have to take a day to drive through these places to see how things are. I am also open to suggestions for other safe towns in the area as well.

I would suggest Union.. simply b/c getting anywhere from the brunswicks is a nightmare.. i commute to Englewood cliffs and Manhattan.. if you try to head down on the turnpike pass exit 13.. during rush hour.. it's a nightmare.. so personally quality of life gets impacted if you are spending over an hour each way commuting.. and if you are in Union.. you can get to turnpike/parkway/1&9 in minutes.. or if you want to go into the city you can simply drive to North Elizabeth's train station and be in the city in 20 minutes..

besides.. being that Union is next to Elizabeth, you can use their transportation methods to your convenience and this also helps real estate prices..

Union is a safe place to live as well.. i have a few friends who live there..

good luck!
