Corzine wants to increase state aid to Union City Schools by about $20 milllion dollars.

Currently, they get 76% of their funding by the state (i.e. the suburban ATMs).

An audit by the Dept of Education came up with these interesting facts:

A $13,000 monthly payment for 39 cell phones used by the bus drivers. That comes out to almost $345 dollars per month per cell phone

$73,000 for cable vision ad spots

$55,000 for a monthly newsletter

Bus drivers drivers paid $61,456, $51,725 and $73,000 in overtime.

Here's a good one - A $2,268 bill from the Sheraton Edison Hotel for students and two teachers. According to the audit report, no agenda was found and they were unable to determine the purpose or necessity of the trip
I wonder if they rented the honeymoon suite?

There's even more, if you can take it. BOHICA.

Another problem is bussing.
I know of a certain person (in another town) that has a small bus sent to their house because they can't ride the regular bus due to not getting along with people. Pretty sure I heard that it was about $50k per year for this one bus.

Another bunch of "sigh" stories. If your little mutant cant get along with other kids mayhap a little stint in juvy might provide inspiration.

Get the bus drivers tracphones. They should be for emergencies only.

Absurd......when will this kind of crap end??
How much does this district spend on ESL as I'm sure a lot of the kids do not read, write or understand English

back in the day when your little mutant would not behave on the school bus it was the PARENTS responsibility to transport....that happened once to one of mine in 7th grade, suffice to say the remainder of his school life was strife free on the bus

This is the norm for all of the Abbott Districts, while our local school boards try to cut programs to save a couple of bucks. You have bus drivers making over 100,000 dollars and they are entitled to pensions after 10 years with a govt. agency. Go figure, Corzine going to fix it by cutting money to rural areas. He just gave Jersey City 8 million dollars for distressed cities. Donald Trump is building million dollar high rises in JC and Corzine is giving them 8 mill. Yea he's cutting, so he says, but not in the areas that are pissing your money away. The lawmakers are to busy passing bills about look a like cigarettes. This state will continue to go down the tubes. Hey the majority of people voted for him so all of us are getting what the majority voted for. If Corzine ran for governor today, he would still win by a landslide due to the power base in the cities.

Why is it that two, hillbilly (I say that in a good way) committeemen from a backwoods town in BFE have such a clear, concise picture of what's wrong when a state government, filled with Goldman Sachs execs, can't put their finger on it?

Sounds like business as usual in Trenton.
