And another thing, you are not a true JERSEYAN if the Baboons have not ripped something off of your car in Great Adventure's safari at one point! LOL!

Yes I was at Great Adventure the first year it opened too. Remember when they warned everyone who had the vinyl/non-hard roofs that to baboons they tasted/smelled like food to them?I remember going through the safari the first time as a little kid all scared

I was all giddy. LOL We used to take the OLD messed up car so we COULD go through the baboon section. It was a riot.

I remember Arthur Treachers
I remember when I was little the Arthur Treachers was on Route 46 across from Roy Rogers near the corner of Franklin Ave! I was surprised to see it at the mall last week as well.
Hot Dog Johnny's is REALLY good, but I did like to go to the STewarts for birch beear and hot dogs, in the car of course with the tray attached to the window...

I didn't exist/born when Great Adventure was just Great Adventure. Buuut, those baboons have been a staple that lasted many years into my life. Definitely enjoyed them climbing all over the car when I was little. I think they even had to do some umm.. bathroom business on the car too.
Was pretty disappointed when GA had to enclose the section but the reasons are fair enough.

I miss the old Tommy's Diner in Wallington, best breakfast anytime of the day (it burned down), Fat Mike's on Rt.17 in Rutherford (long gone, oh sobb!), Rutt's Hutt above Rt.21 in Passaic Park (love the Rippers and chili), Hot Grill in Clifton off of Rt.46, One frenchy one! best Roast Beaf sandwiches and the dogs aren't bad neither( but not as good as Rutt's, sorrry).
And let's not forget Harry's Corner on Rt.46 in Hackensack, his menu was basically 3 things: egg sandwich, sausage sandwich and sausage & egg sandwich. Oh my almost forgot, home of the most inexpensive Italian dinners, Barcelona's on Harrison Ave. in Garfield 4 people have dinner and drinks for less than $20.00. I recomend the salami and provolone on hot garlic bread.
Maybe some of you might remember Hot Dog Johnny's up Sussex county by the racetrack in Hacketstown, they went out of buisiness after Johnny got hit by a car crossing the street, they were famous for their hot dogs with a dill pickle slice.
I really miss the small, down home, non franchise food joints of New Jersey. Any time I return these are the kind of places I hit. After I leave Newark airport one of the first places I go is Rutt's Hutt for some rippers and chili.

Earth Shoes
Earth shoes were different from wallabees. The sole of the earth shoes were flat but about 1 inch higher in the front than the back. It was kind of like walking up hill, supposedly "the way man was meant to walk". I fillled mine up with pet rocks and traded them for platform shoes.

Nothing like a Trigger Sandwich
I remember Arthur Treacher being by Roy Rogers and Burger King on Rt.17 in Rutherford. Best Roast Beaf Sandwiches ever!!!!!! They were fresh sliced with a big fixin's bar to dress it up. Real Roast beaf not that junk that Arby's has.
Went to an Arthur Treachers about a year ago in Ft. Lauderdale. What a shame. The fish pieces were so small, they used to be cod now they look like sunfish size. Oh well.

Anybody remember your favorite places to see concerts. The Woolman skating ring in Central Park was good in NYC. But my favorites in NJ were Roosevelt Stadium in Union City, the Garden State Arts Center in Holmdel but THE BEST was The Capitol Theatre in Passaic, small, intimate, great sound, good line up of artists and a great ceiling to stare at between groups. If you know what I mean. Oh yeah, the Convention Center on the pier in Asbury Park was interesting, the ceiling was falling down during the concert due to a strong storm outside. l

White Manna burgers in Hackensack (not sure if you are familiar). Kicks the crap out of the one in Jersey City & most burgers I've ever had for that matter. You should go the next time you are in NJ.
But beyond that, I miss The Rink in Bergenfield. KRS ONE, Redman, Naught By Nature, Salt-N-Peppa, DJ Ron G, DJ S&S, ect. The Rink was great. Now it's a SEARS!
