Great thread....ahhh the memories...

There used to be a drive-in theather where the Meadowlands currently is....

+1 for Rutts Hutt. I really miss getting my usual 2 cheesburgers dipped and a "frenchy 1 w/gravy" traveling....the best is they still have those rutts hutt shirts in the glass case on the wall still selling for $5.....

Anyone remember Caldor's in W Paterson on 46? Back in the day, mom used to drop me off at the plaza game room, give me $3 in quarters..play some moon patrol, centipede, and I was good to go.....

Is the Montauk still kickin in Passaic? The place gave me the creeps the ONE time I went in...(yes and did see more pervs than I wanted too......)

Also, if anyone has a clue, I can't remember...what was that club on Van Houten Ave in Clifton (close to the bizub quinlan funeral home?)...used to hookup a ton there.....also, Joey's on Allwood Road.....good times....

Astro Bowl & Wallington Lanes....great bowling (keeping score by hand of course)

My memories of Ft. Lee are probably more recent than yours. That callahan's closed only ~5 years ago. I think there's still one on Rt. 46 in Little Ferry but I'm not sure. I liked Hiram's better anyway. It was there first for one. Why on earth woult callahan's open across the street. But the real reason I like Hiram's is their spicy chili and $1 michelob. Who has $1 beers anymore? My meal of choice: Chili cheese burger and chili cheese fries and michelob.

Rusty Kale's is another hole in the wall with surprisingly great food.

But both of these still exist so I suppose this is a bit of a threadjack. Sorry.

Default Good Time Charlies Saloon

In the late 60's I would visit Seaside Heights for an outrages time. There was this bar on the corner just off the main drag I believe called Good Time Charlies, that had a folk band, gave out hats and mugs at the door. We southern boys had a great time there. Anybody know what ever happened to it?????

The Paramus Roller Rink and GrandWay. Great Eastern Mills in Hackensack. Acme food store. Valley Fair in Hillsdale. I think there is still one left in Little Ferry by the circle. What was that little sandwich place right on the 46 Little Ferry Circle? They kicked butt for breakfast. It closed down years and years ago. How about that Go Go bar on 46 in, was it Little Ferry? It became a car wash many years ago. Pants Place and Canadians stores in the Malls. Is Hirams still standing on Palisade Ave. in Ft. Lee? The Drive-In movie theater in Paramus by the Plaza. Tice's Farm in Montvale! The Rt. 59 Flea market in Spring Valley. Lots of Jersey people went there on Sundays! To drink we would also cross over the line to the Black Bull Pub in Pearl River! It was 18 to drink in Rockland County. Also the Joker in Suffern? And the Marshmallow in? Remember those clubs? All the 18 year old Jersey kids went to them. Good old days!
Alexanders on 17 in Paramus. Worked there for two years. Came out one day and my 69 Chevy Malibu was gone! There was a huge car theft ring stealing cars from that lot.
Here's another one! The Head Shop OHM or was it spelled O'M? They sold all kinds of paraphenilia and hippie clothes. I still have a shirt from there. This was the early 70's! It was in Nanuet on that main road that the Black Bull Pub was on going towards the Nanuet Mall.
How about Trader Horn? Was one on Rt. 17 in Paramus. Got my first 19 " Mitsubishi tv there for 610 bucks way back in the 80's.

I do! Do you remember the boxing matchs they had there also? I used to go with my Father and uncles and cousins. Some great battles. Back then you were allowed to smoke and they place had a cloud of cigar smoke lingering. Good times.

I believe in the early fiftys the Embassy had a radio or TV antenna on top of it that a plane crashed into it and landed close by in the densly populated area causing quite a few deaths.

Two-Tone...was trying to think of that name. Got a one piece punk rock leotard there! Used to by my club clothes there. Saw Pink Floyd and The Beach Boys at the Capital Theater too!
