Speaking of Seaside, I remember trying to win cartons of cigarettes on the boardwalk. That's one thing I don't miss...

Places that I really miss:

Mr Creamee Ice Cream and the Go-Carts on Rt 37 in Toms River. This was one of the biggest treats we had all summer.

The drive inn movies off of Rt 37 by Fisher Blvd-now houses. I remember crying when it closed. We used to have a great time-wear your pj's, play on the swings before or between movies.

Pizza King on Fisher Blvd in Toms River- and I am talking the real one before they opened the resturant and became Baoimonte's and then Mugsy's or whatever. They were great when they were just Pizza King. I remember we got to go to Pizza King once a month on payday and I would get a Pizza Burger and two slices. Occasionally I would switch out the Pizza Burger for an Italian Dog.

Burger Chef and Geno's fast food places. I also remember a pizza place called Genos on 37 in TR in the 1970's. They had great pizza and also great zeppoles!

I remember the Toms River Haloween parade before TR became really overbuilt. You would go and probably end up next to someone you know. The people weren't as rude as the past few times that I went.

Although TR always had a population-growing up it was hard to go to a store or elsewhere without running into someone you knew.

I miss the many places that I used to run around Toms River that are now stores and housing developments.

I also miss how Toms River used to be. Not as built up-still quite a few farms-before all the 55+ developments came in and really started the out of control crazy growth. I remember as a kid once Labor Day came-it would be very dead as all the tourists would go home.. Many of the houses on my street were summer houses. I cannot believe how different Toms River is from when I was a kid. However, that happens everywhere

How about the mini donuts. They used to float in the oil and then move to the conveyor belt. Powered sugar or cinnamon.

Anyone remember Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips? I used to work up in Lodi where they had an Arthur Treachers location and I ate there often.

This was the first fast food seafood joint.

Speaking of Robert E Lee. Just across the street and down the road does anyone remember the old Smorgasbord on the corner? The dinner/show place? What was the name of that? We seen some good mini concerts there while having dinner.

Club Bene, it's gone now too
