Hot Grill, Clifton - I cannot tell you how many late nights I spent there in high school and a few years later.

Red Chimney is no longer there :-(

Tick Tock Diner, Clifton

Yes my brother used to work at the one in Pompton Plains. They were great but you could never finish them.

Does anyone remember the Ice Cream parlor on rt 46 W in Pine Brook? It was next to the Burlington Coat factory. My mom would go shopping and my dad would take us to get ice cream. this is early 80s.

O'Dowd's dairy. It burned down around 1981 or 1982. I used to get the orange pineapple cone all the time.

How about Becker's Farm in Roseland? They had a small train for the little kids and I remember drinking chocolate milk as I rode in it. Prudential's there now

Also in Roseland, now closed: Fernwood Country Club. Those that were regulars there need no explanataion, a family institution kept deep in our hearts.

Pine Brook Auction on Rt. 46 - The Pickle King was great there, across from the guy that sold the religious articles. I remember my parents bragging that they'd get 4 heads of lettuce at the Auction for 25 cents!

Mothers - How many of us would "Make it to Mothers" on Friday and Saturday nights?

Drive ins in Wayne where Costco is now, and in Parsippany. Wasn't there a horse farm down the street on 46 too?

And last but not least - Grunnings in Caldwell. Their orange sherbert was my favorite.

Thanks all for the smiles.

There is an Arthur Treachers in the Ocean County Mall in Toms River. I just ate there last week...yumm-ee!

I loved Hotdog Johnny's. That was a mega-treat for us kids after visiting relatives in PA. The birch beer...yum-ee!

I remember fondly the Haunted Mansion in Long Branch that later burned down. I remember one night a guy playing a monster got punched in the stomach by some old lady who got really spooked. She had to be close to 70 and she was STRONG. OMG, it feels like yesterday.

Club Bene! Holy krap, Batman! I totally forgot about that. We had a saying that to play at Club Bene, you were either just starting your career or you peaked years and years before.

I haven't been to North Jersey in a very (12 yrs) long time but I remember one September (I think it was 1995) where I went to 5 (yup, count 'em 5) weddings in that month alone and they were ALL held at the Bethwood in Totowa. Is it still there?

I also remember a place where a friend of mine had their engagement party and it was called the Wayne Manor. After the party and digesting the um...food, we dubbed it the "Wayne Manure!"
