I remember Rt. 1 Flea market and all the junk I bought there - pink floyd mirrors, tacky 80s clothes and the great antique section they had -
How about Jo Jos hotdogs in Iselin? gigantic hoagies filled with huge hotdogs, potatos, onions, peppers - those things were bursting with open- I also remember the Rt. 9 Flea market - not sure if it is still there Is Greasy Tonys still in New Brunswick? and what do they call the food places there - the trailers or something? I now live in VA and there are tons of Arthur Treachers and Nathans - they are making a come back |

Does anyone remember shopping at "Valley Fair" Back in the day? It was in South Hackensack or Little Ferry I think. And does anyone remember the cool shoe department in Alexander's? IT had movie seats, and movie stars pictures all over the walls. And the shoes were all tied together with string, and kept in these huge bins.
Does anyone remember the theme song to Wild West City? The commercial was performed by Uncle Floyd. "I'm goin to Wild West City, The City that drives you Wild!" - And does anyone remember the "Fairy Tale Forest" that you could go inside of Hansel and Gretels house, and the little old lady who lived in a shoe? I was sooo scared to go in the Hansel and Gretel house. I thought the witch would throw me into the oven.....lol One of my favorite memories as a child was going to see "Miss Louise" from Romper Room, at the Palisades Amusement Park. I wanted to meet her so bad but when it was my turn, I froze and I couldn't do it. I was so intimidated by seeing an actual tv star in the flesh!!! hehehe |

The slushies were called "Icees" and they had a picture of a polar bear on the cup. We also loved going to Woolworths five and dime.

"The Amazing Hot Dog" in Verona NJ. The hot dog is huge, wrapped with bacon, and you can get cream cheese, chives, wiz and chili on this massive heart attack waiting to happen. By far, the best hot dog I've ever eaten. You even get a set of heart paddles with every meal!

We used to get the banana splits at the one in Bloomfield. They would have a bunch of balloons above the counter and you would pick one and pop it and whatever price was inside was what you would pay anywhere from 1 cent to 1 dollar or so.
