Hi, I see many nice advertisments for housing in Newark, NJ, but on the news I always see killings and bad things about Newark, I am single mom of three and would like to know if one part is worse than others or if all areas are bad, looking at a place located on Isabella Avenue

this topic has been beat to death on these forums, may I suggest you do search in this forum on Newark
I am not even going to waste my time talking about Newark .Why? Because there is always going to be some ignorant fool that is going to say "It is not that bad" "Actually, it is a good place". Listen, Newark is for the most part a dump but I would be fooling myself if I said that it is ALL bad. Would I buy a house in Newark? Hell no! Can you live in New Jersey and avoid Newark all together? Probably not. Newark is home to NJIT, Rutgers-Newark and a few other good things. Is it a desirable place to live? HECK NO, but it is an undeniable part of New Jersey. So, I would just say 90% bad and 10% good. Good place to raise children? Forget about it!

If you can afford to not live in Newark, I encourage you to do so.
For about the same price, I'm sure you could find something better.
