Check Gladstone station
Most people that live in Chester (including myself) use Gladstone station on Morris-Essex line. It can be reached in literally 3 minutes from the Far Hills section of Chester township, or in about 20 minutes for the northern part of Chester; from the center of Chester (Chester borough), it takes about 10 minutes. A train ride to NYC takes from 82 to 90 minutes, depending on when exactly you are traveling.
Mendham residents have a choice of using Gladstone, Bernardsville, or Morristown stations. It takes 15 minutes (on average) to reach Morristown station from Mendham, and 20-30 minutes - from Chester. The train ride to NYC from Morristown takes exactly one hour. If there is a problem with parking at the station, you can try parking at the Hyatt hotel on Speedwell Ave and then walk about half a mile to the station .
I don't think there is any problem finding the parking space at the Gladstone station.
Good luck with your house search!

thanks for your help.
