Default Moving from AZ back to east coast (north jersey), Looking for safe area to live

I am currently in the process of moving back east looking for an apartment in N. New Jersey and I do not want to live in a "ghetto" I like my car and I would like to keep it. I am looking for reasonable rent. willing to pay up to 1000 for a 1 bedroom or a studio. Any Ideas.

I moved from AZ to NJ about 13 years ago. It's quite a culture shock; but it is a great place to live!

Why North Jersey? Are you going to be working around that area? Commuting to the city?

Cars do not get stolen in NJ like they do in AZ. I wish someone would have told me that... You can find a nice 1 BR for 1000 for sure, just about anywhere.

I will be out there for a new job that covers North new jersey, it will be my territory. So I will be traveling all over, so it really doesn't matter where in jersey, as for the culture shock, i am originally from NY i just came out here for work and now I am going back for work. The nature of my business has me move around a lot. Hoboken seems nice but I have a puppy and finding something reasonable has been kind of hard. What about elizabeth and sommerset.. It's a little ways out but the rents seem decent.

For $1000 a month you can get a nice apartment in a nicer town than Elizabeth. East Rutherford, parts of Hackensack,

Morristown or Parsippany would be good places to look.
