I go to the malls around North Jersey really often (like every weekend) and it just seems like every mall closes off their escalators to the public due to maintenance. If malls are supposed to be handicapped friendly, it seems unfair to those who need escalators. I am healthy, but I have to walk all the way to an elevator or walk deep inside another anchor store just to access an elevator or the next escalator. It's so unfair to those who can't walk well. Rockaway Mall is the worst with escalators and they also have orange cones all over the place, because they literally ripped off the tiles on parts of the floor for no reason. I can't see why the floor at Rockaway needs changing and I can't believe how fast escalators wear and tear.

“An escalator can never break. It can only temporarily become stairs...”

“Sorry for the convenience.”

They are doing maintenance and repairs during summer slow months to prepare for holidays. That's why all of them are doing it now.

The one by the Planet Fitness entrance at the Monmouth Mall is always broken. The ceiling there is always leaking, too. For years now.
