What are the best ethnic/international markets in northern NJ?

I tried the Tashkent market (ethnically Uzbek) in Brooklyn - great stuff.

And in these markets what have you discovered/ tried and would like to recommend ?

I just discovered Gourmanoff in Paramus (because of this board). It’s Russian/Eastern European/Jewish, and its fabulous. Great prepared food section, sausages, and selection of fresh baked breads. Impressive seafood selection as well, including various kinds of caviar.

Go to Nouri Brothers in Paterson for Middle Eastern. More good baked goods, meats, dried fruits, etc.

Then of course all of the Asian markets in Bergen County. Super H Mart in Fairview, Han Nam in Fort Lee, 99 Ranch in Hackensack (also in Jersey City), Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater. All have cool food court selections, fresh seafood, good produce, etc.

There is also a 99 Ranch market on Route 1 South, in Edison. If you have driven in that area over the past few years, you would probably have passed it.

Don’t know of where you could find Uzbek...sorry to say, but that is VERY niche.

Turkish, as previously mentioned, Nouri Brothers in Paterson. Mix of Turkish and Lebanese. Also try Nizam in Cliffside Park. Looks like there is also Istanbul Food Bazaar in Clifton and Sultan Food Bazaar in Parsippany. Google is your friend.

Someone mentioned a couple of Italian places. You must not forget Calandra’s Italian Village in Caldwell.

You should make a trip to India Square in Jersey City as well.
