I rode PATH 3 or 4 times over the past few months, traversing both the 33rd St line and the WTC line, and I did not see anything other than turnstiles. I agree that the OP's claim does not pass the smell test.

I can vouch that there are the flap-type turnstiles and they do stay open for three or four seconds so that is plenty of time for someone to go through right behind someone else.

Yes, they have them at Newark and at the WTC, at least. But still, you have to be right behind someone and it would be obvious what you are doing.

Thanks for your replies. It wasn't intentional. I tapped my card and the gate said enter. Didn't realize that it might have not registered the tap. In hindsight I should've been more aware. Payd the fine and have learned my lesson.

I just try and avoid them, mostly because they take so much longer to open than a standard turnstile. Ain't nobody got time for those!
