Got a Fare Evasion ticket for NJ Path train recently. It was a mistake on my part. Don't know what I was thinking and just walked in after another person.

I have to make a mandatory court appearance, how does it work if I want to plead guilty in the court. Will this show up on any background checks (financial services) or effect immigration status / future Visa stampings?

i wonder if you were raised to have a lower moral character than what i would expect. like the guy who rear ended me and then lied about it to the insurance company. it just seems like some people are more casual about breaking laws if they feel that they can get away with it. (that is understanding that i have zero problem with breaking laws that shouldnt be laws. perhaps in this case you could suggest its stealing from government and that is ok. i may buy that.)

anyway, its important to know what the charge is and what its classification is. we run criminal background checks on our employees and i do see turnstile jumpers. i cant recall what the charge level is (and if its the same today). its interesting when you review criminal results and see what things bother what people. this is a form of theft, so for me that is a big red flag. so if i were you, i wouldnt take it lightly.

It's nearly impossible to "just walk in without thinking" through a PATH turnstile. You have to be RIGHT BEHIND a person, virtually touching them, to do that.

How does one slip through the turnstile after another person has passed through, and the turnstile has instantly locked itself again?

Aren't you supposed to be working?

It's a waste of everyone's time to have someone go to court for this small matter. The "man" should have just sent you a ticket which you could pay online.

Do they still have those handicapped entrances with the flaps that go side to side? I have not been on the Path in many years. But I would assume those close pretty quickly too. This does not pass the smell test...
