That article was dated Feb 14th, at first I was shocked to see the 2.78 average. Not living there, I'd say the average is probably about, what, 3.05-3.10 now?
Here is the real gallon tracker. Good thing you are all sitting down in front of your computers for this one. It is against the law for customers to pump their own gas in NJ. It is 100% attendant pumped. So not only is it the cheapest it is also the best service! WOW!

I suggest we all start drilling for oil in each one of our backyards, because my dear online friends even though it may be cheaper than other states our wallets are getting smaller.
it is cheaper in NJ for 2 reasons, having huge refineries near NY and Phila is part of the answer and the other is NJ fuel taxes are close to the lowest in the US.

if the enviro whackos would allow drilling in more places the US could become less dependent on imported supplies and prices could be lower.
one reason for high prices that is not coming out during the current green propaganda blitz is the need for reformulated fuel, these requirements add 30-40 cents per gallon to regular and over 50 cents a gallon to diesel.
