I was just reading about the chili cook off and crawfish festivals in this forum and was wondering if there were any other great fesitivals worth checking out this spring or summer. Thought we could post them early enough to actually give each other time to plan on going.

There aren't any great festivals here in South Brunswick or the immediate area that I know of but I will be on the look out.

Sussex County has a great state fair, but it's not until August.

The Hackettstown Spring Festival is next weekend...free candy from M&M's as well : ) It's usually a great time. Two trolleys running folks between the many events. You should check it out...

Hands down - the best area festival we've attended is the annual Portuguese Festival in Newark. The food is absolutely amazing, every corner has some form of meat or seafood grilling and the streets are lined with open bars and DJ booths. Our fave is a stand that offers brontosaurus sized beef ribs but we always manage to fit some grilled sardines, octopus salad and a few caiparinhas and sangrias!!!
