From what I've read, Wantage was the inspiration for "Into The Wild".

Well, after 35 years my mom & wife still have faith that it will happen. I show glimpses every now and then, but it's just a fleeting moment.

If you're thinking of byram, I'll tell you then to check out frelinghysen or Hackettstown in Warren county, Byram looks too run down for my liking. Or check out NEWTON, Andover or Sparta in Sussex county. They're all withing 15 minutes of each other.

Yes I know , you are kinda like mold, you tend to grow on people. I like the Branchville area myself.

i myself live in wantage. while i do admit that it is quite far from the more suburban areas of nj, it is still a great town. I also went to school here and the system is good. there are some "misguided" kids but i don't think there is a school that doesn't have some "misguided" kids. the teachers are good and high point high school has one of the best engineering programs in the country. yes wantage is in the "boondocks" but once you get used to traveling a little father it isn't so bad. i myself live in the most northern part of wantage right next to hp state park. although i am farther from sussex borough (in the center of wantage where most stores are) and the rest of new jersey, i am also much closer to middletown ny. i admit that middletown is not the best area, but it does have a good mall and lots of job oppurtunites. if you are willing to travel a little extra, and want the security of having a large plot of land without many neighbors than wantage is the town for you.
