Wink In Search Of Nice Safe Area In Central NJ

I posted a thread earlier in search of a nice location in central NJ.

I was looking for some ideas for actual apartment locations.

I will be working at JFK hospital. Safety (I am young and will be on my own) and short distance to train into NYC is important to me. I have heard that areas such as Metuchen, Old Bridge, and Edison would be a good commute for me to work at JFK. I wouldn't even mind going a little further north to find a nice area.

Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Edison would be a good choice - thats where JFK is, not to mention the train, along with some nicer sections. There are some areas that aren't as nice in Edison, so you'll need to go there and check it out to see if it'll be the right fit for you.

Metuchen is a wonderful place to live. Depending on where you lived in Metuchen (it's very small) you would either be able to take back roads and prob a little of route 27 to JFK. It would be an awesome commute.

There are lots of restaurants and at least 3 coffee places, plus more will eventually come in that huge lot on Lake Ave and Rt. 27.

The people are very nice and really look out for each other too.

Yes we have a train station which is on the North East corridor which is a direct (no transfers) into NyC. You would also be close to MetroPark in Iselin.

Good luck!

Most of Edison is safe - Durham Woods in Edison and other apartments in the same area are nice and safe.

Most of Somerset County is really nice too. There are even some places with train stations really close that have free parking.
Go on craigslist or something like that MLS and look in Somerset County. You will find something nice and safe.

If you dont care about country side you cant go wrong with Edison or Metuchen. You dont need to go far, the towns are most convinient and Edison was one of the safest town in the US. You dont need to stretch yourself, JFK itself is in very nice area. If you like country setting then you have to look towards somerset county.
