Default Deer Run - Watchung or Green Brook?

Pretty confusing...it seems like Deer Run homes can be listed in both Green Brook and Watchung at the same time? How's this possible? And what town do they belong to?

Why does this seem difficult or confusing? The street, Deer Run, goes through both towns. Some of the houses are in Green Brook, some are in Watchung.

I mean the same home address can sometimes be listed as one town in one place, then the other in another place. For example 146 Deer Run is listed as in Green Brook in one place, but in Google Maps it is in Watchung??? So which is it?

It's where you want it to be.

Do you want the zipcode for schools or taxes?

Is the zipcode putting you in one township for taxes and another for schools?

This really isn't strange - I've been trying to sell a house for a few months and the zipcode puts the house in GreenBrook Twp. But the house is really in Warren. Any children who would live in this house would go to Warren schools..walk across the street from the house and your'e in Warren. Snobs and all. GreenBrook ain't that great..so I'm going to change the listing to Warren. B/c everything OTHER than the property taxes exist in Warren.

Good luck.

Now I understand. OK. I just looked it up for you. According to the tax records accessible on my MLS, that property is located in Green Brook NJ. But it has a mailing address of Watchung. Taxes are paid to Green Brook, kids will go to Green Brook lower school (the high school is the same for both towns) but the mailing address is Watchung.

Google places it in Watchung because Google uses the mailing address zip code to establish the town.

If the house is in Green Brook, the kids will go to the Green Brook school, not Warren. For the high school, they are the same, but not for the lower school. You can't just change the listing to show that the house is in Warren, becasue it's not in Warren. Put it in the comments or something that the mailing address is in Warren. Because everything OTHER than the mailing address exists in Green Brook.

Green Brook seems to be the red headed step child of Somerset county hill country. The Watchung neighbors look down on you and the Warren neighbors do the same.

Imagine owning a house on Deer Run in Green Brook and trying to fit in with your next door neighbor who happens to be a Watchung snob? (could get ugly)

Green Brook has the monopoly on all the houses with panoramic NYC views. The view side of Deer Run is in Green Brook, and those houses cost a lot more than the Deer Run side in Watchung. Green Brook elementary and middle schools are much better than warren's and are on par with watchung's. Check out SchoolDigger.com

Do you know what's even stranger? I once knew a person who had his house in one town and his backyard in another! The dividing line between both towns went through his property.

You are absolutely correct about the "view" houses on Deer Run. You may be correct about the elementary and middle schools also.

In the Somerset county pecking order (best towns in Somerset County) Green Brook is far below both Watchung and Warren. Not by those who live in GB but by the residents of the rest of Somerset county.
