I am moving to Ridgewood, NJ. I'll be living near the Somerville Elementary School. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way into NYC. I know the 163 bus is close. Any suggestions.
Thanks!

If you don't mind taking a bus, it's the closest. There is a bus stop on Ridgewood Ave, right by Somerville. Your only other option is the train which is about 5 min drive (depending on traffic) or 25-30 min walk.

Agree with the bus recco. If you have a ride and don't require parking, you can also try the Shortline bus. Shortline runs buses up rt 17 (stops at linwood, ridgewood ave, midland and I think century). It is fast because there are so few stops. Of course there is the train also, but you need to get there early to get a parking spot...welcome to town

I also have a similar question, but my commute will originate from South Pleasant and Grove St. Is my best option also walk to Ridgewood Ave. along S. Pleasant and catch bus 163? Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I am new to Ridgewood.

That's one of the options. You could also walk to Prospect and catch 164. It might be a shorter walk.
