any good restaurants in Central Jersey?
I will be graduating this coming May (Rutgers - New Brunswick) and was planning on taking my family out to lunch (or dinner) afterwards. Does anyone have any recommendations on some nice restaurants that would be appropriate for this type of occasion? I was thinking maybe Old Man Rafferty's on George St but I was hoping to check out some place new. It doesn't have to be in New Brunswick rather somewhere in the area.
Thanks!

Congrats on your graduating...
How about Lou Cas on route 27 in Edison. It's absolutely delicious seafood and Italian.

The Frog and the Peach in New Brunswick is excellent. And there are a slew of good restaurants just down the road in Princeton.

Lou Cas has a room that seats about 25.... If they were going for lunch and needed more room I'm sure they could reserve a good amount of space.

It'll probably only be 8 of us including me. I'm not sure if that qualifies as a "party."

Lunch would be your better bet. They might let you use the dinner menu for lunch and charge you lunch prices. If you don't plan to drink and depending on what you want they can bring large appetizers family style. Also not sure but maybe you can bring a cake rather than getting separate desserts.
I would also hope, but not knowing your guests, that they would not go and order the most expensive things on the menu.
If you call there in advance and ask them how you can do it and give them your budget they would probably try to work with you. I've been there mid-week after the big lunch rush and it's so quiet that I bet they would be happy to have the business. They are really lovely to work with so it's worth a call...
