Default What parts of Newark aren't so bad?

I'm not to particular on crime so long as the neighborhood isn't northphila or camden or whatever projects there are up north. What are the areas of Newark that aren't to ****ed up? Any better school systems?

Have you lived in Newark? I think this is bad advice... Yes, most of Newark is terrible but there are a couple of good spots... Ironbound being one of them.

The best section of Newark is the Ironbound Section that is predominately populated by Portugese people. There is section of North Newark down by Bound Brook Park that has old large mansions that is pretty decent. With that said there was a post on here by I think his name is John Paul that lived in Newark and thought it was pretty decent until the thugs beat the living $hit out of him for walking home from work. BEWARE is all I can say. Move a couple of miles north to Bellville or Nutley or out west a bit. Good Luck either way. Jersey Man

Newark is a gamble. I have a friend who lives in one of the large old homes by Branch Brook Park and his house has been broken into twice. His parent's car was also stolen from the driveway. The neighborhood is nice, its just that criminals from the surrounding areas like to "visit" sometimes. So if you decide to move there, get an alarm system for the house and a large wrought-iron gate for the driveway.

Why the hell would anybody want to live in Newark if you can get a better place for just a bit more? Try Elizabeth, not the greatest place on Earth either but I would much rather live in Elizabeth than in Newark.

I live in the Ironbound off of RT21. My daughter goes to South St. I love it my daughter class has 13 students and the teachers are great.. South St offers a various a programs and after school programs.. Before I lived in South Orange and the school system was horrible.
