What sections do you want to know about? I lived there for 27 years but don't think I can name all of the sections proper, but certainly know about each.

Oakview and Brookdale (north end), Watsessing, Halcyon Park, (south end) Brookside (mid). There are probably others as well. Lots of different kinds of neighborhoods.

You did better than me. I remembered Watsessing, Brookdale and Halcyon, but then went blank. Most of the sections are kind of named after the elementary schools in the area or vice versa. Way back when they were, Berkeley, Watsessing, Carteret, Fairview (south side) Oakview, Brookdale, Demarest, Franklin and Brookside (north end).

LOL, wow, I grew up in Belleville and I can't name them either...how bad are we?!

I ask because my sister-in-law is looking to move there and she keeps trying to tell me about this section that I swear doesn't exist. I think it may be oakview (where is that at?), but she keeps calling it something with a B. Not brookdale, because we all know that section. Maybe Brookside like one of you said (where's that too?). She keeps calling it something like bloomingdale or similar and I keep looking at her like she's from outer space. so I figured if I had ALL the sections and their locations, I could just give her a list!!

Thanks guys!

Oakview is on the north end of town off of Broad as you are going toward Clifton. Brookside is in central Bloomfield between Broad and Broughton I believe. Not sure what Bloomingdale is except for a town in Pasaic County.

Halcyon Park is cute. small neighborhood but tucked away and off the main drag from the traffic.

It's actually near the light rail station. However it's a long walk through no man's land. The township could have done a much better job of connecting the light rail station, instead of making people walk across massive parking lots to get there.

I was looking to move to Bloomfield as well. Which sections will be suitable for raising 2 small children. Everyone says Brokdale and Oakview but are there any other areas?

I would stick to Brookdale and Oakview (northern end of town) with kids. The southern end of town can be a little shady.

I agree with Oakview and Brookdale, but would also consider Demarest (in the North end as well.) You will pay for the area, so you will notice that the prices are higher than the South end of town. Good luck!
