If you go on the city-data city profile site and scroll down you will see that is is lower. I never saw West orange as in the same league as short hills, to me it is in the same league as Springfield, Verona, Cedar Groove perhaps Nutley. Very few towns are in the same league as Short Hills. Average income is 82K right in line with the towns I mentioned.

Many folks like the Pleasantdale area (borders Verona, Montclair) and the Gregory area - mostly due to the commuter options. It's a lovely town, mostly Colonials, older homes but there's quite a bit of newer Split levels, ranches. There's a bit of new construction in town but it's higher priced. Good luck!

Id say every section of town is nice, except the valley and there starting a huge project to re-build it and put condos trying to make it nice. I dont know if it will work though, who would wanna pay 400K for a condo with Orange as your backyard?

This poster is right. I moved to West Orange in 1998 and it has changed. But it's still a nice town.
