...why don't they just get generators? there is a solution to their problem.
Not everyone:
-- can afford the $5500 outlay
-- lives in a house that can accept a backup generator
-- lives in a town (or HOA) that allows a backup generator

its substantially more than $5500.
i believe that on the holmdel facebook page, many of the people complaining can make it happen. moving is also an option. the outages are going to happen, the power company doesnt have much ability to avoid them.
my mom will be spending the night tonight (unless her power is restored soon). im not sure what that means with the invite to the neighbors to spend the night. i gave them my old portable generator when i had the standby hooked up, im curious to see if he will get it going or not.
We just got power back. My family members in other parts of Jersey are still out. My neighbor’s car was crushed by a tree, luckily no one was hurt. Another neighbor had a big tree split in half and fall on their lawn.
Eastern Monmouth County, not much rain atm, much wind, some gusts so strong when I went outside to check that I ran back into the house.
No power right now, either.
Northern Ocean County.. Walmart in Brick was closed today due to a power outage.
During the storm... I was driving on 295. A gust of wind caught the side of the car and blew me across a lane, and a van in front of me. Whoa. And my car is not light, it is more heavy than light..
Mom & dad in Kendall Park did not see any power issues, but my relatives in Manalapan had power problems for 3 hours. No tree fall issues where family lives, but there are broken trees elsewhere.
My prayers go to those whose homes were damaged by trees. I have a large tree behind my house, but I live way up in Michigan. We don’t get hurricanes, but ice storms are a common threat in November and April, and then there is lake effect . It sucks when you lose power in winter.

My power went out 4:30pm yesterday (after the storm). Not supposed to come back on until 11pm tomorrow. All the food is spoiled. Can't go to a restaurant thanks to Murphy's COVID policies. When the power comes back on no doubt the stores will be cleaned out (especially since Shop Rite West Orange lost power and they're the biggest store around). It's really hot and really loud because of my neighbors with generators. All in all, this year is disaster.
Did a bike ride earlier. Saw lots of downed trees in Summit, mostly just branches elsewhere (Livingston, W.O., Chatham, Madison, Morris Twp). Didn't hear any chainsaws or see any work crews, except one in Green Village not working.

My parents got power back today and they live in Morris County.
