Hi everyone, we are looking to buy a two family home in Bergen County (rent one and live in one)
Ideally in a town with a train for commute and a walkable Downtown
We think that these criteria will make it easier to rent, any suggestions of towns? Especially where people tend to rent?
We looked into, Ridgewood, Lodi, Closter, Norwood, Fairlawn
We are all over the place and little lost since the inventory is very limited and houses sell pretty fast.
Our budget is around k700 but we re also looking for something much cheaper that has potential
Any help would be appreciated!!

Do you have any other criteria? Do schools matter? Ridgewood and Lodi are about as different as two towns can be in Bergen County.

Yes, schools matters actually, we are considering Ramsey since Ridgewood has a very limited 2 family

A 2-family home for under $700K is going to be hard to find. Perhaps in Lodi, where you'd want to be near the Hasbrouck Heights border.

Ramsey has very limited 2 family homes also. That is probably the case for much of northern Bergen County. You're probably better off looking in southern Bergen County.
Train towns:
East Rutherford
Lyndhurst
Elmwood Park
Saddle Brook
Other towns:
Ridgefield
Ridgefield Park
North Arlington
Carlstadt
Little Ferry
Wallington
The school rankings in most of these towns are pretty much middle of the pack.
