I live in Monroe Township
I love Centex homes and it's a great community. I live a few miles from there but not in an active adult community. There is alot of shopping even though it may not look that way. Down the road is a new Stop n Shop, banking and some small stores. Also if you go right down Perrineville Road that will take you to Route 9 about 7 miles and boom tons of stores and the Freehold Mall. It took me awhile to figure where everything was since I'm from NY, but there are tons of stores, just learn the back roads.
Good Luck.

I have no idea about the quality of homes that Centex builds, but they have a 55+ neighbourhood that has been under construction for the past 3-4 years in West Windsor. There are several homes built and open to the public. You might want to take a look at them.
The shopping thing, I can help you with!
From Monroe, you can travel down Rte. 130 south to East Windsor, there is a Shoprite on the north side, and if you continue south on 130, you will get to WalMart and HD.
The folks I know from Monroe, shop in E Windsor, W Windsor or Hamilton. Depends on what kind of shopping you are looking for.

Thanks for your response. I live in NY on Long Island and have everything right there and was concerned since I didn't see anything right by Centrex. Thanks again. Any info about doctors, hospitals, etc. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Different builders
Centex and Renaissance are 2 different builders; in Monroe Twp Centex is building an age restricted developement and Renaissance is building standard homes at Southfield Estates. I have the Harding model on order at Southfield and although they haven't broken ground just yet they have been fantastic to deal with.

Monroe Twp
I have lived in Monroe for 20 years and I find it a great place to live, quiet safe and about an hour to everything big. There are many over 55 communities to choose from so don't limit yourself to looking just to that track builder Centex. There are 2 bigger malls, Freehold Raceway and Brunswick Square which are about 15 minutes away and other local shopping in Hightstown area. Primary hospitals would be in New Brunswick or Old Bridge about 30 minutes (less with lights flashing). Also since the community has a higher concentration of "seniors" the town blends well (most people anyway) with all age groups.

irismike;
Did you decide on a Centex home? We were at Renacanse at Monroe this weekend and liked it. Talked to a few people there and no one seemed to have any complaints.

We love Centex but heard the taxes are at least 7,500. What were you told? Did you buy there. Iris
