im not jewish but boy do i miss the old ny deli's. I dont go to ny but is there a place in NJ that I could get a good old mile high sandwich, i remember the pickles, the knishes and just the good old days. I would give a pint of blood for a good egg cream, ny pretzel, knish, and a kosher deli with a big sour dill. UMMMMMMM I cant even get a good chicken soup anymore. Boy I miss old NY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im too lazy to go but have fond memories
ummmmm stuff cabbage, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hot pastrami, good old jewish rye and the mustard in a barrel !!!!!!!!!!!! ummm im going thanks, did not think anyone would answer this thread!!!! You know that sysco cant deliver to these place. It seems that food had so much more taste and was better. I just cant explain it but its like the same bad deliver truck from brooklyn goes to all the chinese place, then add the bad italian pizza kit at every strip mall and sysco and you have slop. People will eat anything. Maybe its me, at least a good jewish deli you cant wreck.
Hmmm... I haven't been to a Jewish Deli in a while.
As for italian delis Fresco on Main Street is the absolute best and has the freshest food I've ever had from a deli. Plus it's owned by really nice and friendly people.
Irving's in Livingston, Kartzman's in Irvington (if its still open), Eppes Essen in Livingston are all good choices. They're all chock full of artery clogging, schmaltz-filled goodies.
