Hello All,
My husband and I are new to Hoboken and are Thinking of buying a condo. We’ve been looking for a few weeks and are deciding between the two: a really nice, bigger one on Clinton St. near ACME, and a nice, smaller one on Garden St near 10th. The one on garden is a smaller condo in a walk-up built in 2015, 3rd floor and no elevator; The Clinton one itself is great but there’s an ambulance dispatch service next door, a fire station half a block away and a high school. Does anyone have trouble with noises on Clinton St near that area? We are both commuting to Midtown ~3 days a week for work (maybe not until mid next year given the current situation), no kids, and budget is under 1.5M. Any suggestions on these two location (better place to live)? If anyone can provide some insight I would really appreciate it

I live on Grand right near that Acme, so can shed a bit of light on the area. Overall, we like how central the area is to everything, but there are a few callouts.
- Depending on where you live and if you face Clinton or a back alley toward Grand, there are some ambulances that drive south down Grand and can be a bit noisy, but they are not too frequent. But if you are facing Clinton, it shouldn't be as big of an issue since traffic moves north on Clinton and the hospital is south (most take Willow, a few coming from the west take Grand).
- The bigger noise issue for us is Willie McBride's. Like clockwork when the bars let out on Friday & Saturday nights, it's pretty noisy with drunk people walking down the street
- Also, trash pickup is at like 3:00 morning, which also wakes us up sometimes, but I think that's not specific to our street
- The High School is an absolute non-issue
As I said, overall we like the area, and like having the grocery store right there. I think it will get even better one the "Wonder Lofts" are completed and some ground-floor retail comes in - the area does have a bright future.
On the other hand, there's no denying that 10th & Garden will be a nicer and quieter area overall. We previously lived Uptown so came in with an uptown bias though. For me, it would depend how different the actual condos are. If they are reasonably close and the only difference is the Garden one being a walk-up I'd get that one. But if the one on Clinton had parking and/or outdoor space I'd pick that every time. Hope this is helpful.

Thank you so so much! This is super helpful. We actually loved Grand better than Clinton as it looks nice and quiet while we were walking by, but we didn’t have any luck finding a home on it. Thanks again for your responding!
