I am a 30 yr. old married woman with a 2 year old little girl. We are currently living in a lovely Brownstone in the West Village in NYC. We love it here, but we would like to move to a more "family" type community for our daughter. We are looking in CT., PA., NJ, RI, MASS, and Long Island and Westchester in NY.
My husband is a surgeon, and I am a kindergarten teacher, so as long as there are good hospitals and schools nearby, we are not very limited on where we go. Now, for what we are looking for:

- We want to be close to the beach, we are big beach people.
- A clean, safe neighborhood with a low crime rate and great public schools.
- A fun place to raise kids. ie; a nice library, maybe a nice neighborhood pool, community events, nice parks
- a fairly affluent community. We are not snooty people, but we would like to live in an upper middle to upper class neighborhood where people take good care of their homes and lawns, are well educated, and are involved in their community.

Is there anything that would fit the bill? TIA!

You have plenty of choices

I did some work up in Closter recently and that area is beautiful
as is Cresskill and the rest of the surrounding area's

Here is one of the listings that is out there

Garden State MLS

In those area's you have a lot of choices
some higher and some lower priced

2 million bucks! That is a lotta latte. Beach was #1 on your list. Maybe you could expand on what that means to you... how often you would like to go, what you do there, etc.

Rumson
Colts Neck
Shrewsbury

If Bergen County is your liking then I would go Upper Saddle River or Alpine.

Other towns in Northern Jersey...
Short Hills
Chatham
Madison
Bedminster (Homes to Jackie O, Johnson & Johnson's owner, DeLorean and other people that I could never afford to live near)

Middletown NJ also has some nice neighborhoods, great parks, arts centers, library and close to the beaches with NJ Transit to Penn Station.
Also has good schools and Riverview Hospital among others.

Moorestown was voted best place to live, by money magazine last year.

About an hour's drive from the beach, and convienent to all the Philly/SJ hospitals. There are quite a few.

Default Central NJ Coatline- Can't go wrong!!

From your description, the central NJ coastline sounds like the perfect fit.
You could have a beautiful gracious home on the beach, older or new construction, your choice. Fantastic school systems, unparalleled quality of life, and still a 35 minute ferry ride into downtown Manhattan.
I have lived here all of my life and even while working in Manhattan would not not leave this amazing area.
