I appreciate the comment. I know people who live in Vermont and have echoed the same thing.
This is what else I hear...
If moving to Vermont only move to Southern Vermont. The rest of Vermont will call you "flatlanders" (kinda gives me that creepy Children Of The Corn feeling). Vermont is liberal, NH is more on the conservative side. Taxes in Vermont are higher than NH.

Granted, it can be boring as hell...
Visiting NH and living in NH are two completely different things. I strongly suggest that anyone from NJ who is thinking of moving to NH visit several times including the winter and research a lot. You say the price of living is low- well yes our overall Tax burden is low(for now at least although the commies voted in in the last election are working hard to change that) but I would not say "cost of living" is low. While yes some areas home prices are less than NJ for sure-housing prices are out of control here like the rest of the nation. Sure you could get a much cheaper home in Coos county but where would you work? Other costs of living like gas, food, etc are not any lower than other parts of the country. Unfortunately with all the Mass and NY businesses come the mostly MA and other people who want to come to NH because it is "less expensive" but they bring the same political mentality and tax and spend mentality from the state from which they "escaped". They sell their expensive home so they can buy a nice home here, complain about the long commute and why nothing is around them, want all the stores 2 minutes from their home and complain about things they want changed . It is sad because when we left NJ to move to NH, NH in many ways-not all reminded me of the NJ of my youth-more of a conservative state, open space and farms, low crime, not have to lock your doors etc. In the 9 years that we have lived here, I have seen changes that make me concerned about NH's future. Overbuilding, ever increasing presence of illegals, voting in not democrats but outright commies/socialists who want to tax everything you do and take away all personal freedoms. I hope in the next election, people wake up and vote in old time NH politicians-those who stay the hell out of my personal life and my pocketbook! I would hate to see my 2nd homestate go down hill the way my beloved NJ has.

Great post Nicolem, some people leave this state and than they want to change the state that they move to be like New Jersey. Go figure, it seems like we can't escape ourselves.

Oh that happens in Florida a lot!!! People move there and really don't understand what Florida living is, expecially year round.

Before you leave someplace, you have to really do your homework on where you are going.

And yes, south jersey is a different place from north jersey. And west, by Hackettstown and further up the mountains you would hardly believe you are in the same state. But inevitably to get anywhere you have to deal with bad roads, serious congestion, and the same sopranoland mentality in government.

Sorry - You know nothing about Corzine- He was basically forced out of his billion dollar firm. You also know nothing about the Corruption plaguing the citizens of New Jersey.
