No, when I was a kid it was semi-rural. Still some farms, a country town. So was Franklin Lakes. As a matter of fact, my father got a grant toward building an accessible house in the 1950s because he was a disabled WWII veteran. Former farmland in Franklin Lakes was selling for 1500 an acre, and my mother wanted to build there, but my father wanted to stay in his hometown. He felt as if it was too far to drive to Teterboro for work, and "there's nothing but little dirt farms there anyway".

I think until the day he died she never let him forget about that.

But yes, I lived in Fair Lawn years ago. Decent town, decent schools, close to everything you need, adjacent to Paterson. That's a good choice.
Thank you! Sounds like a good place to live for the next 3 years!

I double-checked Upper Saddle River, it's 'The commons at USR', $3k for 2- bedroom with basement. Very spacious and excellent schools.

Definitely excellent schools. USR is a very affluent town.

My sister also lived in Fair Lawn and raised her daughter there. My niece did very well academically and career-wise.

Just curious... is the 3BR place in Fair Lawn located at Fair Lawn Commons? If so, the same company owns both the apartment complexes in FL and USR. The apartments in USR are a couple of years newer, but the apartments are very similar.

The extra $$$ go to pay to live in USR, which is a more affluent town than Fair Lawn. But, again, Fair Lawn is still a great town.
