Are there any good town houses in central bergen county? Or at least good towns for townhouses?

I'm in my early/mid 20's and am looking for something reasonable (ie: 2bdroom townhouse for ~$400k). I just moved back to NJ a few months ago (after living the last 6 years in MA), and am looking for some advice on towns to consider.

I've recently been concentrating on high rise condo's in hackensack, but I'm starting to think a town house might be better. I'm just not sure where to look.

Based on my job, future education goals, family, etc.. paramus comes out to be the midpoint, although I'm very willing to look in a 5+mile radius around paramus (ie: river edge, westwood, maywood, saddlebookr, teaneck, hackensack, etc..). Which towns should I be considering?

Thanks!

Alex

man for 400k, buy a house unless there is a good reason to buy a townhouse. sorry i know that's not too helpful but you will thank me in 10 years when the townhouse hasn't appreciated much

I feel like a full house might be too much for me in my mid 20's? If truth be told, I'd prefer a luxury condo high-rise But I can't seem to find too many that fit my requirements, and most have HUGE maintenance fees ($700/mo+).

I completely understand. A house is a lot of work. I figure whatever you pay in maintenance would have gone into the house one way or another. Or vice versa. You get an old house and you want to do stuff to it. There's brand new condo units on Route 4 in Teaneck I believe. They are hidden back behind the Exxon. On the east bound side directly across from all of those new brick "brownstones" or whatever. My wife and I went and looked and they sure are very nice. New is always nice. Maybe this would interest you.

I looked through those and a couple of others but still can't find anything good. For some reason I can't find anything in towns like paramus, river edge, etc.. Any ideas?

There aren't a large number of townhomes in those towns actually the only ones in Paramus that i know of are off Century Rd and they are large and more expensive.

What is wrong with what you are finding? Is it the location or the condos/ townhomes themselves?
