Hey Myskreen,
Did you go to EHT? Mainland class of '90 here. Good Lord, I'm getting old.

I was going to mention to Nogal that it's expensive in NJ, but then I realized that she's from SF, quite possibly one of the only places in America less expensive than NJ.

Nogal,
Your question is a difficult one as I don't want to give a flip answer. In my 20's I partied a lot so I liked Ventnor, Margate, etc. I'm in my 30's now, settled down and a Christian so now I'd probably like a house with a nice big yard for my kiddies to play in, probably Linwood, SP, or EHT. I was just in Monterrey a month and a half ago on business and I drove the rental car 30 minutes to Salinas to get my In-N-Out fix. mmmmmm double double animal style lol
The one thing I miss about not living in California anymore is the food. What will you be doing @ ACY, btw?

Before my internet goes out again (I haven't been able to log on for what seems like forever, and the internet is still coming and going today), I want to thank everyone for all of the information about Atlantic County. You've been a great help to me. I know it's going to be expensive to live there, but as Sonrise knows, California might be even worse. I'm going to sign off before I get booted offline again, but thanks again so much!

What do you think of Pomona or Linwood? Are there any other towns within 10 or 12 miles of the airport that you would recommend? I really appreciate any help you can give.

Hi norgirl...I too am from the penninsula and am moving to ACY for work. If you are still checking this board, I am wondering how your search went, or is going...and what conclusions you have made about the towns that others have mentioned?

I guess we are in the same boat as I have to move out there being completely unfamiliar with the area. SO any help would be appreciated.

Pomona has the advantage of having Stockton State College there, which has a lot of stuff going on that's open to the public....And Margate has Lucy the Elephant.

Anyway, here goes: If you were in your 20's again and moving back to NJ, where in Atlantic County would you choose to live? And why? (And again, if you can't narrow it down, that's fine. I was just curious.) I've heard so many good things about so many towns that I'll probably not really know what I'm doing until I get there. I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically, the mid-Peninsula, about ten miles south of SFO.
I don't have anything to add but just wanted to welcome you to Jersey. I'm from here (Monmouth County originally) but lived 12 years in the Bay area. (8 in San Francisco and 4 in Morgan Hill). It may be a little bit of a culture shock for you but the summer is a blast where you will be living.

We just moved back in February of this year.

Good Luck!

Shanny

Egg harbor Township a city? Hardly. A city has skyscrapers, is densely populated and lots of public transportation chioces. EHT has none of them. There are more shopping choices then there was years ago, a benifit the casino's gave to Atlantic County. There are a few congested areas in the area of the shoppping districts, but EHT is very much rural still.

As for the new development near the airport, I'm assuming your refering to the the development of blue heron pines east. The project has been stalled since the house market collapse. It's a great place to go bike riding, with all of the paved golf cart paths, but the course is in no shape for golfing. Blue Heron Pines West has already been developed with houses and condos to its fullest potential.

TECH GROMIT
what i meant was with all the growth the township has seen in the last few years it feels like a city( to me ) with all the people and the congested area. the public transportation as grown as well. the southwest part of the township is the only area i would consider rural area and NO im not talking about blue heron pines. im talking about the farmington section of the township near westcot road, but you know that right? seems as though gromit is more of a city person and myself more of a country person. in any case norgirl i do wish you the best of luck

Default Well it's years later. and it's much worse!

Stay far away from this goddamn piece of garbage airport. We lived in Galloway 9 years, no issues. Then all of a sudden this past year the flight patterns were quit eobviously changed or th emilitary has beefed up their fighter plane ****offs... Now all day, all night it's terror. It is absolute hell here. Stay away from the airport or you will wish you were dead. The nosie levels are by law not supposed to exceed 65 db. Well guess what, they break the law regularly. The noise is even worse than 65 db, at times much worse! And they sued to live by the law, we don't fly past 11pm. Well guess what, lately they have been flying till 12 am. So basically we get about 6 freaking hours (12 am-6am) of no planes. And in that time period I still hear planes/helicopters mucking up my peace and quiet. They have ruined this area and all the morons who live in it here seem to accept it and not want to complain. My life is miserable here. I can't sleep, I can't have bowel movements, I can't make my doctor's appointments, I can't do anything. I am perpetually tormented, harassed, abused, and violated by loud airplane noise in my own house. And we're sick and can't move. We're poor and can't afford sound proofing and even if we could it would be hell just to adjust to all that's needed to get the sound proofing done. This area was peaceful, quiet, and respectable in Galloway for years. Now it might as well be waste dump. I really really hope some terrorists target this deplorable disgusting area's airport and blow it sky high. Then maybe I'll finally be able to live my life reasonably again. Without the noise abuse I suffer daily here! The people running the airport, and everybody else (city officials)we have seeked out to help us lie to us and disrespect us. They want to rob us of our humanity and treat us like animals because of their selfishness and delusions. They try to act like we should just accept this abuse and violation of our human rights by this horrible plane noise here. Nobody seems to care and I wish and prey karma takes effect on all these people who have no consideration or compassion for their fellow human beings. All of them who are barren of any empathy towards sick disabled people who just want peace and tranquility in their own spaces. We have gone as far as the president and have not given up! But we are NOT getting any help, just opposition by uncaring people in power that should fall off a cliff for the way they treat other human beings who are victims of this airport/military flight barrage! These beauracratic lowlifes who have no conception what it is to live this deplorable life and be traumatized every waking moment by this noise! Don't you dare pass judgement on me for my extreme comments. Until you live this awful existence here daily and have your life, sleep, and every other part of your world disrupted and turned upside down by constant unnecessary noise from planes that are constantly flying over your house/vicinity. Flying low (so low they appear to be right over the ground at times) because these pieces of trash can't even understand that if they just fly higher up it would limit the noise nor do they care. Hovering back and forth one goddamn plane after another all day and night here. So come move to one of these pathetic towns near the a.c. airport and you will see how miserable your life will be! As I write this now my sleep is being disturbed once again by planes since 6am... Unless your freaking deaf as a door knob and can't hear anything. Then by all means, move here and these pathetic planes won't be a bother at all to you!
