Default Sewell, Turnersville/Blackwood, Bellmawr

These towns have been added to our search list for our home. Anyone familiar with the areas have any opinions/advice? Schools etc.

We are looking for a home in similar areas.

Blackwood is horrible, stay away.

Turnersville is OK, not great but not horrible.

I looked at 2 homes in Sewell and the area looked nice but I don't know much about it personally, same for Bellmawr.

What was wrong with blackwood?
I get different statistics or school ratings from every website. Makes it difficult to figure out.

My cousin lives there and has lived there for 20 years, she told me whatever you do don't buy in Blackwood/Clementon/Pine Hill. It just keeps getting worse there every year with crime, delinquents and people moving in that do no take care of their property. I saw some bad areas when we were driving through looking at other homes.

Right now I am leaning towards the /Glassboro/Woodbury/Pitman/Mullica Hill areas

Hmmm good to know. Crimes rates seem quite low but who knows. Crime rate was a 20 as opposed to the NJ average of 75. Woodbury? Maybe I am mistaking it for another area but I thought that area was not great? Since you seem to be on the same hunt as me any info about oaklyn?

I grew up in Turnersville/ (Washington Twp/Sewell) and it's a nice area with good schools and many attractive housing options. It's developed a lot over the last 30 years and there's a lot of traffic there now but it's a nice area.

I don't think Blackwood/Pine Hill or Bellmawr are as nice. Not terrible, but nothing special either.

New Jersey is beginning to confuse the heck out of me. So blackwood and tunrersville are seperate towns. Even though they share the same zip and schools? And Turnersville is somewhat better then blackwood?
I have two houses here trying to figure this out. Both on the same street. One is Blackwood NJ one is Turnersville How is that possible?!?!

oh and just to be sure Washington twp schools are pretty good?

Washington Twp schools are good.

Bellmawr is ehhh ok. Some parts are dumpy and are similar to Brooklawn. I would stick to the part north/east of the Black Horse Pike. I don't know how the elementary/middle schools are. The high school is Triton Regional which isn't the greatest at all.

Blackwood and Turnersville share a zip code but they are 2 separate towns. It is confusing. I am not sure if they share the same school district.

Default Blackwood and Turnersville

Years ago, early 60's when homes in Washington Twp. (turnersville) were built the post office was Blackwood and zip was 08012. It grew, and over the years got so big, it became Turnersville but kept the zip. Some houses are still recorded as Blackwood in public records though, so this adds to confusion. They are different school systems. Some areas in Washington are Sewell and Turnersville (post office). One side of the street where my friend lives is Sewell and across the street uses the Turnersville address and zip. But they both go to Washington Twp. schools. So, parts of Sewell and Turnersville are Wash. Twp., and sometimes Blackwood is still used in Turnersville, but not often.
