Moving to Jersey from California (Hoboken, Springfield: apartments, rent, living in)

Hi,
I know there are quite a few of these posts in the forum and I have been through them. After going through them, I am more confused than before.. and hence I decided to put my own post..I am really really looking forward to your help in identifying a place in NJ.

We are moving to NJ next month from California. I will be working in Hoboken and have a 1 year old kid. I am looking at a commute of 1 hour door-door (45 mins in the transit). I am looking at a monthly rent of $ 1500 for a 1-2 bedroom apt.

Would appreciate if you could tell me about some livable areas within one hour commute to/from hoboken.

I have looking around for apartments on the net . Couple which interest me are:

Pine Brook NJ 07058

General Greene
37 Mountain Avenue

Those may be okay, though I don't know where Pine Brook is. Springfield is a pretty good town.
