Default Another Abbott School Boning.....

First of all, the Dept of Education Commissioner, Lucille Davy, has no intentions of recouping $83 million worth of questionable and wasteful spending discovered during audits of the state’s Abbott School Districts.

Next, the superintendent of Keaneburg's schools is getting a [b]$740,000 /B] severance package.

If NJ were a family we would be on Jerry Springer every day.

Since when do you get "severance pay" when you retire- not get fired???? The article stated that she got $180k in unused sick time (which I find to be a ridiculous policy in and of itself- no one in the public sector gets that kind of stuff), and the rest was "severance pay based on her 35 years of service"- huh?????? And this comes on top of a $120k/year pension?? Y'all can thank the NJEA (again) for wasting your tax dollars.............

not to defend what is going on here but this person is just working the system and isn't doing anything that is improper according to the rules in place.
it has become SOP in government that people get paid for unused vacation days, sick days, personnel days, in this person's case it wound up being a huge amount, in my days in the private sector there was a time limit, use your time off or lose it, gov't would be well advised to adopt the same policy. you're right about the absurd packages the unions have gotten, it really is obscene

It is the DOE commissioner's fault though - and thats what this article drives at.

I blame the local elected school board(most are controlled by NJEA). They give these contracts out. The supt. cut some deal, good for her, bad for the taxpayers. This goes on in all phases of govt., the Hoboken Police Chief that was supposedly forced out, really retiring will get 850K on top of 150K pension yearly. He cut that deal with the local municipal council and mayor. The majority of people put these school boards, mayors, and governors in office. So now we are stuck with these decisions at least to the next elections. Gotta love Jersey.

that's why it is so important to see beyond slogans and ideologies when electing people, most people don't realize that these elected officials make many appointments like judges, boards and important things like that, they enter into contracts and have power to cause a lot of problems.

If you elect clowns don't be shocked when a circus happens

Agreed, but...

Let me know when you find a politician that isn't a clown.

Maybe the voters are really the clowns since we're the silly ones who elect them and then the joke is on us at the end.
