I know the name has River in it. I am looking into this for my parents that are seriously considering spending a lot of money on a new home there. I know its near Maguire base and that concerns me. I am in NC and can't drive 500 miles to go see this for myself so I am hoping someone on here can help me out.

I really want to know what the area is like. Is it a safe location? I am sure the community itself will offer a lot of activity but outside of that area is there some shopping nearby? My mom is not that old and is very active still. She would even consider a part time job.

Is the area noisy? I know the military stuff is nearby.. is it active? I saw train tracks on the map... is that train active and what kind of train is it? I personally love the sound of a train but I know my Dad will hate it.

Thanks for input!

Linda

My dad lives in one of the retirement places in Manchester. He likes it....he is a bit of an active person, age 59. He travels mostly through Toms River to get to fishing at the beach. The roads are a little congested on Rt 70. The only thing he has complained about recently is the planes flying overhead as he said they are a little loud.
