Seaside Heights Hotel recommendations
Hi,
We are trying to send our daughter and her best friend on a 3 day vacation for graduation-they are both going to different colleges and this is a last hurrah before they go. Any suggestions about a hotel to go to, to stay away from? Or do you know if they won't rent now for the summer to anyone but families? They are the quiet types, no partying, just hang out on the sand and in the surf type girls. Or would there be a better place for them in NJ on the beach? We've never gone there ourselves and don't even know what we should expect or look for.
Thanks!

Stay away from all of them. Go to a neighboring town. SH is dangerous and the last place I would recommend you send your daughter and friend for graduation.

Partying is all people do at Seaside Hts.. Drink..Dance..and everything else..SH is all young crowd just having a good time. I would not be feeling good sending my daughters there for graduation. I would recommend another beach such as Belmar if they are not into the party scene.
As for hotels, I reserved a room across the boardwalk (forgot name). Anyways - we got in our room, only to find hair and stains all over the sheets. We asked for a refund and left. We then went to 3 OTHER motels in the area and happen to find the same disgusting rooms!! All were aweful!! We ended up statying in a motel not in SH. Absolute filth in those motels in area.
Needless to say, the 1st motel we stayed in not only did not credit back our charge on the CC, but increased it by $300 stating we damaged their refridgerator which we never used! OMG...What a joke...Be very very cautious when staying in SH.

Cranberry (or Cranburry can't remember) Inn is decent, has a pool and is up to the north end of the boardwalk where it's a little quieter.

There is a brand new hotel there but I do not recall the name of it. Looks like a nice hotel that is totally different from anything the town has seen before (besides luxury condos). It is a few streets from the boardwalk near the street toward the bridge.

Years ago I stayed at the Starlight Motel in Ortley. It was pretty nice then - I think they just remodeled it. I'm not sure what it is like now but it is close to the beach and Seaside Heights without being too close to the party atmosphere of Seaside.
Yes, there are plenty of police in Seaside and I feel very safe on the boardwalk but I if I had teenagers I wouldn't want them staying there alone.
