Well I moved from North Jersey to South Jersey four years ago so I have actually lived up and down and have driven through plenty of this state. I really hate this topic because it can always get ugly. Everyone (well most) is proud of where they live or where they came from so it's always a sensitive subject. I can give you a list of 50 pros and 50 cons to either North vs. South Jersey living. South Jersey is obviously less developed and gets you way more bang for your buck. At the same time, I meet a lot of people who have relocated from urban areas in North Jersey and use that as their comparison to South Jersey. Of course, in that scenario, South Jersey wins. There are beautiful scenic areas to North Jersey as well so you wouldn't compare an urban area in South Jersey to them.
I love the slightly more laid back life here in SJ, but I must say, I miss the topography of NoJ. Though heavily wooded, South Jersey is kind of flat for my liking. But I was able to upgrade our lives to a better suburb with top notch schools....one that I could never have afforded up North. Neighbors greeted us when we moved in and we all hang out and chat. Heck, we even do block parties! For all of this, I am digging my new home.

I'm biased but I'll say the South becasue I live here. North Jersey is so NY oriented and I don't like NY sports teams. The people in the North seem to think South Jersey residents are hillbillies and eat squirrel for dinner. Not true of course. Yeah, South Jersey, our gas is cheaper, the dollar goes further, the beaches are nicer, weather is warmer and you're close to everything.

I am in Little Egg Harbor and do not like it. I have never seen so many mosquitos and bugs during the daytime....and those no see ums!!
The people are more redneck here than North or Central.. The pay is bad down here too!! We just moved here 7 months ago. I love NJ as a whole but am used to visiting relatives in Central and North...It is a different type of living here and I am always sneezing here!!!! Achooooooo!

Interpret my words as you will. I did not attack anyone in particular, nor did I even give a metaphorical definition for "turd". Apparently you assumed... which is fine... but that doesn't defy the City-Data terms of service. As a matter of fact, calling me "rude" is more of a defiance thereof... but thankfully, I believe that we all have certain rights... including the First Amendment right to free speech. America may be going down the toilet more and more each day, marching ever closer to becoming a Socialist republic... but at least, until it becomes entirely Socialist, I will defend and exercise the right to free speech.
