Is anyone familiar with Atlantic City Medical Center? I have heard lots of horror stories from all types of patients.

St. Michael's in Newark is bad. Had to go to the ER and the people at the counter couldn't mumble a coherent word, even the MD and nurse told me they hire retards as receptionists. That's why the death rate is so high in NWK, when they rush the victim to the ER, the lady in the ER is too busy filing her nails and texting to be able to get them the help they need, but UMDNJ which is right down the street is pretty good

Cancer Center at St. Barnabas is great! The Doc's are one thing but the nurses in the lab and the infusion center were dynamite. One day I commented to the receptionist on the fact that she remembered all the patients names and her response to me was "you all have enough to think about, it's the least I can do." And 2 years after I finished and had my daughter the nurses gave me a gift for her on one of my follow ups.
I also happen to know that the care in their burn center was top notch.

This thread is still going.. Good deal!! St. B's is excellent. If I am bleeding--I am going anywhere north of here...I will not go to AC Medical center OR SOCH in Manahawkin.....both bad. One of my kids needed to get a blood draw almost 2 years ago when we moved here and the woman dropped the bandaid on the floor...picked it back up and put it on my daughter! I said, the floor is dirty,....she said no it;s ok!!! wth!!!!!!!!!
Monmouth Medical Center-anyone ever hear anything bad there? I have to get a colonoscopy soon!!

If you bring a kid to the ER, they usually fast track them. So far, I never had a bad experience bringing my daughter there or sitting there, I've seen babies come in with high fevers, they were pretty quick to give them a Tylenol supossitory.
I've gone there for myself to have a discography on my spine, horrible experience, the intern hit a nerve going in. I was on the table for about 2 hours, pain meds had worn off. I was then pushed into a hall to wait for a CAT scan, no one checked on me.
Was there back in March for pelvic pain, took 3 hours to rule out a bladder infection. They then suggested an ultra sound, I had enough & left, went to my own OB GYN.

I had my torn bicep tendon repaired at Virtua Mount Holly but I wasn't there long enough to really rate it. Now, Virtua Marlton is absolutely terrible. My mom just got out of there and she had a horrible experience. She had her knee replaced, after surgery, they put her on pain meds and allowed her to self medicate morphine. Well she ended up incoherent because nobody checked on her and they weren't able to easily revive her.
In addition, she got an infection had to go back a few days later she waited hours in an empty emergency room to get admitted and she waited another full day before a doctor actually saw her. It was brutal, the nurses where inattentive, didn't wash her down, etc.
On the bright side, she went back a third time and had a great experience at Virtua Voorhees, she refused to go back to Marlton. I would say for general patient care the Virtua system is very hit or miss. I don't know about Cooper, etc. it has to be better than Virtua. Virtua Marlton is a certified joint center so they must know what they are doing technically but for general care, forget it.

The ER there is terrible. One of the worst i have ever seen.
On the other hand, if you need open heart surgery, they have one of the best heart surgeons around (Dr. Mark Connolly).

I used to be the burn Anesthesiologist there so I can confirm this. Those guys in the burn center are really on the ball. They better be, because they cover an area from Staten Island, NY to Stroudsburg, PA and then all the way down to Cape May.
