Tour of High Bridge and cycling races
I know we have a disproportionate amount of High Bridge resident regular posters , like 2 out of 100 I'll be in High Bridge for the bike race on Sunday, hopefully whooping some butt up these hills.
I want to investigate putting on a bike race. I wondered if anyone has any experience dealing with towns and the like, with regard to police and permission to use roads. It sounds like a nightmare but we have such great hills and roads and no real hilly road races. When is the least busy time in NJ either in the Spring or Summer? I would think sometime in late August, or possible some random weekend when all of the school children have the following week off from school.

I've been very busy thus far this year and havn't gotten out and about much ...heck i didn't even know there was a race...I'm not familiar with High Bridge at all but make it up to Spuce Run and Round Valley for sailing all the time. Hopewell/Ringoes here so not all that far...
info re race etc ??...a bike club event ?? I'm a Bucks county club member...
my toy..Built it myself from componets gathered from about 20 different manufactures. 15 1/2 lbs. about 1/2 HP,, 30 speed trans.
Tends to emit a little methane from time to time but I can't seem to stop that.

Dude that is some bike. Cosmic Carbones with the stickers gone? Is this an Extreme-C or C-40 or C-50? I can't tell the tube shape from the picture. Where did you get a paint job like that And a European fork with no lawyer bumps?
To be honest I didn't even know where High Bridge was until 2 weeks ago, we were in Somerville for the US Bicycle Hall of Fame races there, and I took a side trip to Hacklebarney State Park and saw a sign for High Bridge while my wife was at the NJ wine growers festival at Natirar.

Yeah I hate stickers...Goo Gone is your friend.. It's a C-40 ,the factory paint job is a very limited edition that was done in 2000 as a shout out to Freddy Rodriguez when he was on the team etc ...Only 20 made it into this country so yeah...not likely to see too many My everyday tractor is a Bianco ....Eros not fancy but reliable. I just ride...don't race..too old...too many crashes .
Thanks for the links etc

Cute town. Ridiculously hot day. How is CuCullin holding up in this heat with no A/C!?!
The fire department had like a 6" diameter hose stuck in the stream or river (not sure the name of it) and was spraying it out in to the field there on the Union Forge Park... pretty fun... I must admit I joined all the 12 year olds and went under there to cool off.
Pretty brutal race in that heat. We accidentally showed up 3 hours early so we were baking even under a huge tree for a long time before the race. I did OK.

Windows are open, blinds are closed, keeps shade inside the house... 2 ceiling fans (one in the dining room, one in the bedroom) plus a gable fan in the attic, and it was in the 80's inside
Hot? Sure! But tolerable

Glad you enjoyed it I took breaks from working outside and went to watch for a bit since I live so close, gotta give credit to those who raced, the heat must've been killer on everyone's stamina and speed!
PS: Next week is the soap box derby
