Default Montague, NJ Info, FSBO, realtor referral

We are thinking of moving to Sussex Cty. Montague, NJ is on the border of PA and taxes are not that bad. I found out they do not have their own schools yet due to lack of population. They have an elementary but no HS. Can anyone tell me anything about the area? We are also looking in Milford, PA but my husband has to commute to Bergen Cty, NJ and Pa would be far. I have family in Wantage so I know Montague is farm land and thats ok. Any input?
Thanks. FSBO info would be great as well as realtor referral.

Most of montague is Port Jervis, NY schools, atleast the middle and high schools. I do NOT recommend these schools, however they have a vocational school (where I went) in Sparta, NJ but would still have to go to PJ for middle school, if they are looking to take over a trade, now this is a very good school. I lived in Montague and it was not very good untill the real estate boomed, then building was everywhere but if you every have to get out quick, its not a first choice where people want to go to.

Did you live off Clove Rd? I heard something about a commuter train going in that will run to NYC from PA through Montague. The taxes are going up, youd think they would be lower since they dont have school systems. Im also looking in PA. We are not in a rush which is good. My family is in Dingmans Ferrry and Wantage, NJ but Wantage has too high taxes. Ho humm. I dont know what to do. What do you know about High Point CC? Trashy or nice?

Not sure of a train going through Montague, I know you can get it in Port Jervis, NY. There really isnt nothing in Montague, you have to drive 45 min to a mall whether Rockaway or Middletown, NY Highpoint country club never did anything for me alot of renters in there nothing wrong with that but I just never cared for it. I used to live on New Rd. which is off of clove. I also used to live in Sparta, NJ but thats expensive nowdays. Perhaps try Sandyston or Branchville??

Montague is nice (I lived there for 2 years) but it is shame about the school district situation. I also would not want to send children to Port Jervis for school.

Mom2KK - Are you still out there? Sorry I missed a post you had questions about Milford?

FYI - I would never send kids to PJ schools..

Minisink Valley schools in NYS are good, lower house prices then the rest of OC and better chance of getting to BC quicker. It is about 20 minutes from Milford depending on how you drive...
