Default re: billboard about leaving for myrtle beach on turnpike

Was traveling the turnpike for work yesterday and noticed a billboard promoting the low taxes of Myrtle Beach, SC. I forget the exact domain name, but it said something along the lines of getoutofnj.com or getmeoutofnj.com. Are they sending us unhappy NJers a message or what. The only people that are going to be left in this state are welfare recipients and the rich! I myself am an ex-NJer, I moved to PA last year.

A friend of mine moved to Myrtle Beach a couple of years ago and loves it. The middle class are definitely fleeing this state in droves.

That's where I went. I would be interested to know what the billboard says also. I tried to find that site but could not.

Ah, Myrtle Beach, SC..... "The Redneck Riviera"

Big summer (and spring break) beach spot for those living in the Carolinas... also working on building up its year round population.

FWIW, I have spent the last ~8 years in Durham, NC and by summer's end will be moving back to NE NJ.....

I'll miss Durham's low cost of living, and (most of) its climate, but it will be very good to be getting back to the North East..... You cant get decent pizza or bagels (or really any decent baked goods) down here. Need to be in/near NYC for the health of my professional life too.

I do love NJ.. never thought I'd say that as a teenager, but I do. Although once I officially reach financial independence, I'm outta here. Too expensive... I'm going into social work... little pay... you know..

When we eventually leave the pizza is what I'll miss most. Can't believe people actually consider Domino's real pizza.

Yep! It's weird. We had a very lg. pizza delivered Tues, night for $12.25 (no delivery charge). We gave a generous tip and enjoyed a fantastic pizza from a real mom and pop shop. In California, a so-so same size pizza cost $24 (no joke) from a chain shop.

I can't believe I'm reading this! When I still lived in NJ, I used to see those commercials for visiting NC and a few other states. Now that I live in NC, I've yet to see a commercial put out by the NJ Dept of Tourism shown on TV down here. What has happened? Is the entire tourism budget one of the items that's been axed in the last few budgets? Maybe they're working on a new slogan.

"Visit NJ - Because you can't afford to live here!"

Thumbs up billboard about leaving NJ for Myrtle Beach, SC

Sign aims to sway residents below the Mason-Dixon
Play the video
(06/19/08) BRADLEY BEACH - A billboard along the New Jersey Turnpike is attempting to lure residents out of state.
The billboard is along northbound lanes between exits 15 and 16. It encourages fed up taxpayers to enjoy cheaper living down south.
The sign recommends moving to Myrtle Beach, S.C. The billboard includes a link to the Web site, New Myrtle Beach Lots & Real Estate For Sale at Waterbridge, a site for a residential development in the resort city.
Many residents reached by News 12 New Jersey said they'd at least consider leaving the Garden State for good. "Taxes are high," said Brian Reitz, of North Plainfield. "It's pretty congested. I'd rather live somewhere more quiet." I Want Out of NJ Dot Com
