This time in Hoboken. Today's Star Ledger's Paul Mulshine detailed yet another obscene payout, this time for former school superintendant Pat Gagliardi.

Some of the details are:

$495,000 in unused sick time.

A sweet deal where he can return as a consultant at $1,000 a day for up to 100 days. If he wants to, that is.

This story is in addition to the the former Hoboken police chief's separation payout of $275,000 - $375,000. He's also getting a $147,000 a year pension.

I thought these towns didn't have any money which is why we're picking up their tab.

Reform? We don't need no stinkin' reform.

How is their not a cap on unused sick time? That has become the law. Make it retroactive and we may have a chance of saving this state.

my understanding is unused sick pay is paid out at a rate of 3-1.

jersey man - how do you feel about being paid for unused sick days?

147K/year pension? Cripes, I should have become a teacher in a poorly performing district like Hoboken.

This is yet another sickening way of life thanks to the NJEA Crime Family.

A teacher or a local town cop.

Most people get paid for not using sick time by keeping their jobs. What a novel idea, huh?

I don't know anyone in the pvt sector that gets rewarded financially for good attendance.

HobokenGuy got it right - the NJEA crime syndicate, the most powerful mafia in the NJ universe.

I do - but each year at the end of the year, as part of my bonus, no accruals. Its rare though, I'll admit that...

Cops in the usual cesspools deserve it, but the guys patrolling the affluent towns? No way, but that's for another time and another thread.

Some people look over both shoulders on the walk to their cars for fear of a Genovese, Luchese, Gambino, Bonanno, or Colombo goon waiting to whack them, but I am afraid of a teacher affiliated with the NJEA over the 5 families.

With a teacher and his/her union, you know you will be shaken down.
