$850 - $1000 seems within the range. Our lawyer ($850) was not flawless but pretty darn good. In general my suggestion is don't wait for them (or anyone). If you need something keep bothering them. And no offense to realtors, our lawyer did 10x more work than our realtor. I would recommend him. He is based in Franklin Lakes FWIW. This was not just for attorney review, but for closing also. He also got our title search and insurance, survey, and all of that stuff for us (these fees were paid to the actual people who provided the services, but he lined it all up for us).

Make sure you get a realtor recommended by someone else. We are using a friend and it is the biggest mistake The lack of communication has been unbearable; but the worst part is our lawyer made a HUGE mistake with miscommunicating what we would do with the inspection request.
Just when we thought we were finished up comes a new HUGE issue that the buyers want us to take care of. Well; had they communicated (our lawyers) in the beginning correctly we could have negotiated differently. Now we might be stuck with $1000's of dollars in repairs.

$800-950 is normal. Although you should be aware of the various timelines in your purchase process, the realtor is really the anchor in moving things also. Especially in NJ we take a lead in knowing what is due of who and when. At least do. Long story short, if NO ONE is supervising the transaction, some thing will probably go wrong.
Supervising the transaction is the agents' role. If it's my deal, I ride it from beginning to end to make sure it gets done and in accordance to what my client wants.
Strong attorney is great; diligent realtor can be better.

I used a great guy in Bridgewater named Lee Lederman. $795, I believe. Even advised me on how to deal with issues regarding the termination of my lease.
