Default Trying to determine where to live (Camden County area)

We will be moving to NJ (maybe PA) next month for work. I will be working in Camden and my wife has some leads in the Voorhees area as well as Mount Laurel area. So assuming one of thos positions pans out for her I am trying to figure out best place to relocate to minimize commutes, etc... We are married couple (early 30's) no kids and no plans for kids. We have 2 dogs so we want something with a yard. Can afford around $250k (give or take $50k) comfortably. We were wanting to move into center city philadelphia but with both of us working in NJ that seems to make little sense at this point.

Our first thoughts are Haddon Heights, Collingswood or Cherry Hill since they seem to be the area between our two work locations. We are a tad familiar with the area but not sure how things have progressed over the past 3+ years. Thanks for any advice or help.

Collingswood is adorable. Loads of lovely BYOB restaurants, shops, artsy-fartsy stuff. We go to Collingswood for the restaurants.

We live in Cherry Hill which is great if you have kids (I see that is not your worry) due to the fantastic school system. Cherry Hill has no downtown and the restaurants are all chain places with very few exceptions.

We looked into Haddon Heights but couldn't really comment either way.

For your budget, you may be able to get something decent in Collingswood. Cherry Hill is pricey but you may be able to get a cute cottage.
(sorry...just re-read your post...You can do alright in Cherry Hill on your budget)
GL and keep us posted.

NJcost$$ is on a distinguished road
It really depends on what you are looking for. collingswood is great town, with a really cute downtown area. You can walk to shops and restaurants, and the hi speedline is there that goes right into Center City. but if you want more of the "suburban" fee, then one of those other towns would be better. Out of the three you mentioned, Collingswood would probably offer the most affordable choices, with lower taxes.

Do you have a maximum commute time for both you and your wife?

Cherry Hill is pretty much smack in the middle of both your job sites and is a nice place to live - as mentioned above - typical suburb.

Collingswood has more of a town feel with great train access to center city philly.

250k is probably going to get you an older home in both towns.

I also recommend looking in Westmont (Haddon Twp), NJ or Mount Laurel (townhome).

While Haddon Heights is an easy commute to Camden, it can be a pain to commute to Mt Laurel or Voorhees given all the traffic on 295.

Good luck.

If the wife ends up working in Mt Laurel, then Cinnaminson would be an easy commute to either place. Voorhees a little less so. As a general rule Burlington county has lower property taxes.

Nevermind, I just read that you are single, no plans for kids. LOL.
